NanoGong

How to Create a NanoGong Activity

  1. Go to your course home page and click Turn editing on.
  2. Locate the topic you want to the place assignment and click Add an activity.
  3. Select NanoGong.
  4. Type the name of the NanoGong activity. (This will appear on the course home page.)
  5. Type a description of what the students must do to complete this task. It is good practice to include guidelines on the length of the recording.
  6. Skip the colour setting. It is for advanced users who want the background colour of the NanoGong applet to match your web page style.
  7. Enter 1 in the Maximum Number of Messages Allowed for Each Student. This setting controls how many different messages a student can submit. The default value (0) allows students to submit as many recordings as they like. If you use 1, each student can only submit one recording. However, they can submit as many times as they wish. The new recording will overwrite their previously submitted recording.
  8. Enter the maximum length of the recording in the Maximum Duration of each Audio Message in Seconds setting. If you have a large group of students to listen, you should keep the maximum length of the recording reasonable.
  9. The Maximum Score is used to give the student a mark. It appears in the course gradebook.
  10. Ignore the Allow Guest Access setting. It is used when a course is available publicly.
  11. Ignore the Visible setting. This setting can be used to hide the activity from students on the course home page. This same show/ hide functionality can be enabled using the icons on the course home page.
  12. Click the Save changes button.
  13. The NanoGong activity page appears. Note: the audio recorder will not display for teachers.
  14. Return to the course home page to see the link to this activity.
